Shimla ( Himachal Pradesh In India, on April 1 (ANI), the Public Works Department ( PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh conveyed his appreciation to the Central Government for sanctioning a fund of Rs 140 crores. PWD projects.
He specifically recognized the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari To help provide financial assistance aimed at constructing and repairing deficient bridges as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) program.
Moreover, Singh vehemently denounced the purported unlawful killing of animals close to the Uttarakhand border in Poanta Sahib, located in the district of Sirmaur, where numerous dead bodies were allegedly found. He promised stringent measures would be implemented and appealed to the community to uphold tranquility.
In his conversation with ANI, Vikramaditya Singh restated the state administration's dedication to acquiring funds for enhancing infrastructure. He emphasized that Himachal Pradesh had experienced considerable destruction of roads and bridges because of natural calamities in the last twenty-four months.
"We continuously strive to address Himachal Pradesh We have aligned our infrastructure requirements with the support from the Centre. In particular, regarding my department, we presented a proposal under the ‘Missing Bridge’ segment of PMGSY. I am delighted to share that the central government has approved Rs 140 crores for this initiative. I extend my gratitude to the Centre and particularly to the Union Minister. Nitin Gadkari for their support." He said.
The allocated funds will go towards building bridges in areas like Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur, and Kangra. Singh guaranteed immediate commencement of these projects, with plans for an upcoming inter-departmental conference aimed at facilitating their smooth implementation.
He emphasised that projects related to road renewal, metallisation, and new road construction--including Central, NABARD, and CRF-funded projects--would be completed as a priority. The state's capital expenditure in the sector has been increased compared to previous years.
"We presented our department's progress in the Assembly and received positive feedback. We plan to further accelerate our infrastructure projects to ensure maximum benefits for the people of Himachal Pradesh ." Singh added.
Vikramaditya Singh also addressed the recent incident in Poanta Sahib, where reports surfaced about alleged illegal animal slaughter and the discovery of carcasses. Expressing strong objection, Singh reassured that law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the case.
The accounts from Poanta Sahib, which revealed evidence of slain creatures, are quite troubling. The authorities are currently investigating this matter under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Sirmaur.
Additionally, a joint investigative team with Uttarakhand Police "has been established to guarantee a comprehensive investigation," Singh added.
Several suspects have already been arrested, and authorities from both Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are collaborating on the matter. A joint press conference by law enforcement officials is scheduled soon to disclose further findings.
He stated that the administration is committed to taking swift action against individuals involved in this matter. We will not accept any similar occurrences within any region of our state.
Singh additionally called upon the public to avoid turning the issue into a political debate, particularly due to its delicate nature involving matters of belief and religious feelings.
"The government remains dedicated to upholding justice. Nonetheless, some factions are trying to leverage this situation for their own political advantage. I urge all individuals not to instrumentalize religious convictions for political purposes. It’s legitimate to voice concerns; however, transforming these issues into a political show does not serve the interests of either the country or the state," Singh stated.
