Manchester United's manager Ruben Amorim has dismissed the possibility of Bruno Fernandes leaving during the summer.

Amorim comments on Fernandes' prospects at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes has emerged as Manchester United's standout performer this season, yet the team has spent much of the campaign hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.

In recent weeks Fernandes has stepped up when the team needed him and they will need him to be in top form as they try and win the Europa League.

He signed a new deal until 2027 last August and recently revealed he was close to leaving the club. Ahead of their clash against Nottingham Forest, Amorim said his captain is going nowhere.

"No way will this happen," Amorim stated through MEN.

During the weekend, Fernandes was connected to Real Madrid.

"He’s 29, I think, but he’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season and between assists and goals he’s there for 30 at least. So he’s the type of player we want here so he’s not going anywhere."

Since joining Manchester United, Fernandes has claimed victory in both the League Cup and FA Cup. In his 277 outings at Old Trafford, he boasts an impressive tally of 95 goals. Just this season, according to Transfermarkt, he has contributed significantly with 16 goals along with 16 assists across various competitions.

Can Man United win Europa League?

Man United will face Olympique Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final after a perfect group phase campaign where they went unbeaten. In fact, they are the only unbeaten team in European competitions this season.

According to Opta's latest projections, Athletic Club are the favourites to win the title with a 22.24%. Italian Serie A side Lazio are second favourites with a 21.5% chance.

Tottenham Hotspur stand at third place with 18.4%, followed closely by Manchester United in the fourth spot with 13.3%.

"I believe we can take it one match at a time and emerge victorious. Regardless of the circumstances, once you're part of Manchester United, your duty is to compete for silverware. We'll just have to wait and see," Amorim stated in January when questioned about his team’s potential to claim the Europa League, as reported by MEN.
At this point in any contest, everything becomes feasible, and they have shown that on their best days, they can defeat anyone. Therefore, we should consider the possibility of winning the entire competition.

Manchester United previously claimed the title in 2017 with Jose Mourinho at the helm. Should they secure victory this season, it would mark just their third European trophy of the 21st century.
