Nyahwa Breaks Glamour Boys’ Winning Streak

An excruciatingly long wait. An irritating silence. Over approximately 12 hours of soccer action, supporters of Dynamos were forced to bear with agony as their favorite squad failed to score goals. However, finally, after much anticipation, the dry spell was broken yesterday.

Shadreck Nyahwa made history as the first Dynamos player to find the net this season, ending the 754-minute scoring drought with an impressive 56th-minute goal. This crucial strike secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against reigning champs Simba Bhora at Rufaro Stadium. His effort put an end to the team’s frustrating period without goals and delivered their initial triumph of the 2025 season, earning valuable three points which elevated them to sixth place after four games.

For Nyahwa, this was a deeply felt moment as he had struggled throughout the entire season to find the back of the net. The opportunity arose from a miscue between Simba Bhora’s goalkeeper William Thole and defender Isheanesu Mauchi, which allowed the midfielder to seize control of a loose ball within the penalty area. This particular goal marked just the second time Dynamos had scored in league play this year, with their previous tally being an unfortunate own goal during their 1-1 tie against TelOne.

"After a lengthy drought, I finally found myself scoring again. Despite having opportunities, things just weren’t aligning for me,” Nyahwa confessed post-match, his voice trembling emotionally. “This goal means so much to me, and I want to dedicate it to my yet-to-be-born child. This is why you saw me place the ball beneath my jersey as part of my celebrations.”

The aim wasn't solely Nyahwa's individual success; rather, it represented a pivotal juncture for the whole team, alleviating the growing stress on them and showcasing the promise held by the Class of 2025.

“At a club such as Dynamos, supporters anticipate constant wins,” Nyahwa stated. “However, it’s not always straightforward.” He continued, “The squad is striving intensely as we merge seasoned veterans with fresh talents.”
