According to the five-day weather outlook, scattered intense rain showers are expected in various regions including the Highlands East and West, areas around the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, southeastern lowlands, coastal zones, as well as northeastern and northwestern sections of Kenya.

Mary Githinji, who delivered the weather forecast on behalf of the head of Meteorological Services, stated that average daytime maximum temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius will be observed along the coast, northeastern, and northwestern regions of Kenya.

"During nighttime, minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius can be expected in certain areas east of the Rift Valley, particularly in the Highland regions and the central part of the rift," she stated.

According to the weather prediction, rain is anticipated during the early hours in several areas west of the Rift Valley, including the Highlands West, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley itself.

These include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok counties.

Afternoon and nighttime showers are expected, with thunderstorms probable in certain areas.

The northwestern Kenyan counties of Turkana and Samburu can expect rain starting in the mornings along with continued showers during the afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms are also expected.

In Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi, rains are expected in the morning.

Evening and nighttime bring showers. The agency stated, "Thunderstorms are expected in certain areas sporadically."

In the Northeastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo, morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur.

Morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the Southeastern lowlands counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River.

These may occasionally spread to several other places. At the Coast, counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and parts of Tana River will experience morning, afternoon and night showers.

Githinji said rainfall continued to be recorded in most parts of the country. She said heavy rainfall (more than 50mm in 24hrs) was received in Kitui, Makueni, Isiolo, Embu, Murang’a, Migori, Uasin Gishu, Taita Taveta and West Pokot.

According to the weather forecast from last week, the greatest seven-day precipitation of 155.4 millimeters was documented at the Mayori Rain Gauge station located in Embu County.
