New Delhi [India], March 31 (ANI): Lucknow Super Giants ( LSG ) all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed On Monday, he discussed the squad's readiness for Wednesday's inaugural match at home against Punjab Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
At a pre-match press conference, Shahbaz expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness for the impending match. He emphasized their stable condition, elevated energy, and thorough preparation. Additionally, he noted the distinctive characteristics of the pitch in Lucknow.
Following the previous match, the squad appears quite composed. As this is their initial game, they still carry much vigor from the last encounter. Extensive preparation has been carried out effectively. Additionally, they had a rest period of three days, ensuring they are thoroughly ready. In Lucknow, the playing surface typically features ample amounts of black and white elements,” he stated.
Ahmed thinks the pitch will be advantageous for both sides, providing chances for bowlers and batsmen alike. He predicts that pacers will initially have the upper hand but foresees the red soil making life difficult for the batters as the game progresses.
"I believe this pitch could benefit both sides. When discussing the bowlers, they have plenty of opportunities ahead. It attracts batsmen too, as anyone would want to play on this red soil. Hence, I feel it might aid fast bowlers initially; however, batting conditions may not be very favorable for the batters," he stated.
Ahmed recognized the difficulties encountered by all bowlers, especially due to the implementation of the impact player rule. He felt that bowlers are adjusting to higher pressures, and the bigger playing areas provide chances for them to take advantage of these conditions. Ahmed remains dedicated to carrying out his responsibilities within the squad, be it through batting at the tail end or delivering crucial wickets with his bowling. His primary aim is to perform effectively and support the team’s journey toward success during this season.
Sir, there are numerous challenges, particularly for the bowlers rather than the spinners. This situation became even more pronounced after introducing the impact player rule. In the past, batsmen did not face as much wicket pressure. Nowadays, bowlers must prepare themselves psychologically for these difficulties. Additionally, when facing large grounds, bowlers should take advantage of them, and I trust that they will leverage their opportunities effectively.
My responsibilities within the squad remain consistent, and I aim to continue fulfilling the same duties for this team. For instance, during lower-order batting, regardless of what specific demands arise from each game’s circumstances, I intend to contribute positively with both bat and ball according to where I am needed most. This is my strategy moving forward, and I genuinely believe our side will excel throughout the upcoming season.
