West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose Vows Intervention in Mothabari Violence

Kolkata ( West Bengal [India], April 1 (ANI): West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose refused to comment on the violence that occurred between two factions in the Mothabari region, stating that officials will take "effective measures," and he will step in whenever necessary.

"Currently, I do not wish to comment. The authorities will take appropriate actions. I will stay vigilant and step in if necessary," stated Governor Bose to ANI.

Clashes erupted between two factions in the Mothabari-Malda region on March 27. Following this incident, authorities have apprehended 61 individuals and blocked internet access across three districts.

The Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Jawed Shamim, stated that the circumstances are entirely under control, with 16 cases having been registered.

In discussions with ANI, ADG Jawed Shamim stated, “The circumstances in Mothabari are entirely under control. Up until now, 19 cases have been filed, and 61 individuals have been apprehended regarding this issue… The situation will soon return to complete normalcy. Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out against the Opposition parties following the tensions, reaffirming the government's dedication to halting the "unrest."
