Christ: The Fulfillment of the Law

For those of us under the New Covenant, having entered the Promised Land—also referred to as the rest of God or the completed work of Christ—we should not concern ourselves with the Mosaic Law.

This law was intended for Jesus, who was both completely divine and entirely human. Therefore, we assert that he came to fulfill the law.

We read Matthew 5:17, which states, "Do not assume that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

These are the words of Jesus. God Almighty with all omnipotence humbled Himself to become like us to free us from the Law.

In Biblical terms, this concept is referred to as the doctrine of identification.

We uphold Galatians 4:4-5 from the New King James Version, which states, "[4] When the right moment came, God sent his son into the world. He was born of a woman and lived under the rule of the law.[5] This happened so he could free those bound by the law, allowing us to become fully adopted as God’s children."

Jesus stood in our stead to redeem us.

We observe that the Law directs us to God through His Son, implying that by believing in the Gospel of Christ, we can become his children.

As Apostle Paul states in Ephesians 1:5, "He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the plan of his loving will,"

This adoption is not the adoption we know from the English language but it means

placement.

Please remember that the New Testament was written in Greek and the English language has its shortcomings.

We’re placed in Christ to become sons and daughters of God the Father.

We elucidate Mathew 5:17 quoted above.

Romans 10:4, Amplified, reads: “For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is

fulfilled.”

In other words, the aim of the Law is achieved through Him as the source of righteousness (a right standing with God) for all who trust in, cling to, and depend on Him. This concept is straightforward.

Let's outline the definition of the term "fulfill" as cited in Matthew 5:17. According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, it means to implement or carry out; to fulfill the necessary conditions; to achieve, satisfy; to conclude; to realize the complete capabilities of; to turn into actuality.

Jesus ably executed the purposes of the Law.

He measured up to its demands which humanity could not measure up to and He converted it to

reality.

In Christ, the Law is brought to an end.

The law was perfect and imperfect humanity could not meet its demands, thus the need for

Jesus.

Now we understand clearly that Jesus did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfil it.

We cannot be so stupid to try to fulfil what was fulfilled by a Higher Divine Office. What we’re simply asked to do is believe and

partake.

Jesus responded persuasively to his disciples as recorded in John 6:28-29: "[28] They asked Him, 'What should we do to accomplish the deeds required by God?' [29] Jesus replied, 'The task from God is for you to trust in the one He has sent.'"

sent.”

The law condemns by declaring sin for those who transgress. As mentioned earlier, Galatians 4:4-5 indicates that the grace of God frees us from the jurisdiction of the law.

Law.

According to the mission statement of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 1:21, "She will bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus, [Savior], because He will save His people from their sins."

sins.”

Salvation frees us from the grip of sin, which derived its power from the law.

In Romans 7:8-11, as per the New International Version, we read, "[8] However, sin took advantage of this situation with the commandment and stirred up all kinds of cravings within me. Without the law, sin remains inactive. [9] Previously, I lived without the law, yet once the commandment arrived, sin became active and led to my demise. [10] It turned out that what should have provided life ended up bringing about death instead. [11] Sin used the commandment for an opportune moment to deceive me, ultimately causing my downfall."

Jesus came to fulfill the Law.

Christianity loses its essence and becomes disappointing when we attempt to achieve through our actions what should have been accomplished by faith.

Jesus.

We shall proceed with part two. Unto Him who can prevent your downfall and present you unblemished before His glorious presence with great delight, to the sole Wise Savior God, may there be honor, grandeur, authority, and strength, both now and forevermore. Amen. May grace and peace abound among you as you gain deeper understanding.
