Shettima Urges Unity and Endurance During Economic Reforms

Vice President Kashim Shettima has encouraged Nigerians to adopt unity, peaceful living together, and acceptance of differences as essential pillars for the nation’s advancement.

During an Eid-El-Fitr luncheon held in Maiduguri, located in Borno State, Shettima highlighted the significance of maintaining national unity. He also assured residents about the enduring advantages of the current economic restructuring efforts.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of sustaining the sense of unity past the Ramadan period, as stated by Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, who represents the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency in the House of Representatives.

As stated by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications at the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima expressed: “We are grateful to the Almighty Allah for allowing us to survive and celebrate this Eid El Fitr.”

"I would like to emphasize that we should strive to enhance, preserve, and expand the feeling of unity amongst us for our shared benefit and advancement, treating this unity as a precious offering to each other," stated Shettima.

He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to implementing policies that will foster sustainable development for all Nigerians, urging patience as these initiatives take root.

“Just as Ramadan teaches endurance, we ask for your continued patience as these necessary reforms take root and bear fruit,” the Vice President noted.

The assembly, where both Elders from Borno State and former classmates of Shettima convened, provided an opportunity for important figures to contemplate the nation's advancement and emphasize the necessity for sustained harmony and cohesion.

Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, who represents Borno Central Senatorial District, sought enduring peace in Nigeria and encouraged citizens to unite behind President Tinubu, referring to him as the "nation’s father."

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, also commended Shettima’s humility and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged.

“When he is in Abuja, his schedule is overwhelming, yet he always finds time for his people. Seeing the joyful faces of his classmates, elders, and other guests at this event is a testament to his character,” Kyari remarked.

The Chairman of the Borno State Elders Forum, Alhaji Gambo Gubio, thanked the Vice President for his warm reception and pledged ongoing prayers for his successful fulfillment of national responsibilities.
