- The supermarket's online platform experiences an outage, preventing customers from making purchases.
Tesco has verified that both its website and app are experiencing issues, preventing certain customers from being able to place grocery orders online.
The supermarket stated that their IT teams were actively addressing the problem, which started shortly before 10 am on Tuesday morning.
The tech issue tracking site DownDetector stated they received numerous complaints, mostly from individuals located in England.
Shoppers turned to social media to share issues they encountered while trying to finalize their purchases through the grocery store’s application or website.
"It's not you; it's us," stated an error message on Tesco's website when shown to a customer on X.
'There's a problem at our end, but we're trying to fix it right now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please come back later and try again.'
In response to customer complaints on X, Tesco stated: "We are conscious of the problems with our application and website. We apologize for any disruption this may have caused."
'Our I.T teams are working hard to have this fixed as soon as possible, please keep checking back periodically and hopefully they will be working shortly.'
The supermarket hasn't disclosed the cause of the problem or whether it's impacting deliveries.
The number of DownDetector reports fell sharply after 12pm, suggesting the fault was being repaired.
A representative from Tesco stated today: "We have resolved a technical problem that briefly affected customers using our website and app. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."
In February, the company faced an issue with their online shopping platform that led to products being taken out of customers' carts or labeled as unavailable when they attempted to finalize their purchases.
Tesco said it had been caused by a 'technical issue' with some customer baskets.
