Fassell FC Inches Closer to First Division Crown with Thrilling Victory Over Heaven Eleven

Fassell FC made great strides towards clinching their maiden Liberia Football Association First Division championship by increasing their advantage to nine points after defeating Heaven Eleven 1-0 on March 30, placing them at the top of the standings.

Even though they played most of the match short-handed, Fassell FC managed to hold strong, thanks to Lawrence Kumeh finding the back of the net with his goal in the 41st minute.

Kumeh, having been excluded from Thomas Kojo's Lone Star team for the World Cup qualifiers, scored just before halftime, providing Fassell with a vital advantage.

Despite Heaven Eleven applying significant pressure and pushing hard throughout the match, the ten-player defensive lineup stayed strong. Fassell’s Sekou Kamara received his marching orders early in the first half, yet the squad continued to display remarkable resilience against Heaven Eleven’s offensive attempts.

Thanks to this triumph, Fassell FC has accumulated 47 points and sits atop the leaderboard, whereas Heaven Eleven stays in second place with 38 points. The upcoming fixtures for Fassell consist of encounters with Invincible Eleven (IE), LPRC Oilers, LISCR FC, and Shaita FC. Securing a win against the struggling IE on Wednesday might clinch the title for Fassell.

CEO Cassell Kouh conveyed his enthusiasm regarding the team's advancement, stating, "We can sense the scent of the CAF Champions League. It’s been a shared aspiration for us, and we're nearly within reach."

Fassell FC currently require four more points from their last four matches to secure the 2024-2025 LFA First Division League championship.
